How it all Began
A Brighter Future — Jovial Centre's Children
The abandonment of a child is unimaginable, yet it happens daily in many parts of the world—and Kenya is no exception. Unemployment, extreme poverty, health challenges, substance abuse, family dysfunction, fear, and despair often lead to this heartbreaking reality. We have witnessed it firsthand. Hospitals across Kenya frequently face the tragedy of mothers walking out of wards without their kids, never to return. It’s not uncommon for a kid to be abandoned outdoors—in ditches, bushes, pit latrines, or simply left on a doorstep or in the hands of someone likely to show compassion.
‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.’
In 2002, Madam Janet responded to this crisis by opening Jovial Centre to care for three abandoned kids. In God’s providence and through unwavering faith, three turned into ten, ten became twenty, and the numbers continued to grow. To date, Jovial Centre has cared for over 1000 children—and counting—leading to the birth of The Jovial Centre Mission
